Saugus Child Care Programs

The Saugus Family YMCA is committed to youth development. We believe every child and teen deserves the chance to reach his or her full potential. We offer licensed Early Leaning and Out-Of-School Time programs, summer programs, drop-in programs and other activities to give children of all ages a safe and nurturing place to learn, grow, and thrive. By focusing on the positive development of our local children, the Y is working to bring about lasting, meaningful change in our communities.

Early Learning Program

The Saugus Family YMCA Early Learning Programs are fully licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and have received NAEYC (National Association for Education of Young Children) accreditation.

Our programs provide each child a warm and supportive environment where they can confidently learn, grow, and thrive. We offer a well-rounded daily schedule full of activities that are customized to your child’s individual age, needs and progress. Daily activities include:

  • Pre-k Science, Technology and Engineering activities, which provide a foundation for inquiry and learning through formal and informal learning.
  • A primary educator/teacher approach focusing on smaller learning groups and specifically gearing plans to the developmental needs of the children in each group.
  • Arts activities to inspire creativity and imagination.
  • Curriculum which aligns with MA Early Childhood Program Standards.
  • Nutritious snacks and plenty of physical activity in alignment with the YMCA Healthy Eating and Physical Activity HEPA (Healthy Eating, Physical Activity) standards.
  • Events to help support and strengthen families and communities.

We offer 2,3 and 5 full day options to meet your family’s individual needs.
Preschool (2.9 years – 5 years)
Pre-Kindergarten (age 5 by December 31st)
Kindergarten (5 years – 6years) Child must be Age 5 by August 31st to enter the program

Beyond the Classroom Experience:

  • Access to full gymnasium.
  • Early Learning Program utilizes the Gymnastics Center next door.
  • Swim lessons provided for the Summer Early Learning Programs in the Saugus Family YMCA outdoor pool.
  • KidReports communication system which allows our teacher to capture special moments, take photos and videos of your children in action and send daily classroom information via email.
  • Financial Aid available.
  • All children receive a youth membership to the YMCA of Metro North!

Out-School-Time Programs

As a leader in youth development, the Saugus Family YMCA serves children ages 5-13 on a daily basis providing safe, quality and affordable Out-Of-School Time care. Our program is staffed with educators who understand the cognitive, physical, and social development of children; and we support them in making new connections and trying new things. While in the Out-of-School Time program, children learn how to be their best selves and to develop confidence in becoming the responsible and engaged adults of tomorrow.

While in our program children will participate in a variety of engaging activities:

  • Access to full gymnasium
  • Healthy snack provided to align with YMCA HEPA (Healthy Living Physical Activity Standards)!
  • Dedicated time for STEAM activities, physical activity, and homework support every day.
  • Full day programming on snow days to provide flexibility to families.
  • Half day programming which uses the Gymnastics Center next door! (transportation provided from schools)
  • Open snow days and school vacation weeks!
  • Access to nature walks in a safe and secure environment on the Saugus Family YMCA property of 13 acres!
  • Financial Aid available.

Students enrolled will receive transportation from the following schools to the YMCA:

  • Oaklandvale
  • Veteran’s Memorial
  • Belmonte Middle School
  • Waybright
  • Lynnhurst Schools
  • Callahan Elementary
  • Lincoln Thompson

Hours of Operation: After school – 6:00pm daily
Ages: Kindergarten-8th Grade

Summer Camp Sachem

Camp Sachem at the Saugus Family YMCA is a seasonal day camp program for girls and boys ages six to fifteen. At Camp Sachem, children will make new friends, discover new passions, explore creativity and develop skills through a wide range of fun activities in the great outdoors.

Child Watch

Child Watch is a babysitting service we offer to our members so that they can bring their young children to the Y while they enjoy our fitness programs. Members utilizing this service must remain in the YMCA at all time.

Child Watch Hours
Monday-Thursday: 8:00am-11:00am/5:30pm-7:30pm
Friday: 8:00am-11:00am
Saturday-Sunday: 8:15am-11:30am

Family Members: FREE!
Ages: 3 months and up
*Child Watch is limited to two hours per day, per membership.

Party and Rental Options

Choose from one of our party packages and a variety of activities from games to fun in the bounce house! All parties are 2 hours. Party Coordinator included.
