The Melrose Farmers’ Market is popping-up at the Melrose Family YMCA to host their Indoor Markets this season! The Melrose Farmers’ Market is offering several indoor markets over the winter months from November to March 2020.  The upcoming holiday markets are on Sunday, November 24th and December 15th, from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m, in the YMCA gymnasium, 497 Main Street.  The winter markets will be held on February 9th and March 29th from 10:00am-2:00pm.

Market Manager (and YMCA Member), Julie Unger, is excited to officially move the indoor markets to the Melrose YMCA,  “The market is extremely grateful for this community partnership,” say explains.  The YMCA has hosted the indoor market a handful of times over the past two years and is excited to continue partnering with the Melrose Farmers’ Market through 2020.

“At the previous indoor markets the Y has welcomed hundreds people from Melrose and surrounding communities through its doors,” Katelyn Papadopoulos, Executive Director of the Melrose Family YMCA explains, “We are excited to continue working with another local non-profit whose mission of healthy living so closely aligns with the Y’s.”

The partnership between the Melrose Farmers’ Market and YMCA started back in 2016 when the Y started attending the market as a non-profit table intermittently throughout the season.  Over the yeas the YMCA continued to attend whenever possible and often participated by teaching a yoga class or running a children’s activity.  After hosting the YMCA hosted an indoor market for the first time in 2018,  the Melrose Farmers’ Market started an outdoor pop-up on Saturday mornings with two local rotating vendors in the courtyard outside the YMCA  from June through October.

According to the Melrose Farmers’ Market, this season’s indoor markets will have most of the farmers and vendors who were with the Melrose and Wakefield farmers’ markets, as well as some new vendors. As always, the market will offer a wonderful array of local produce, sustainably raised meat, poultry, eggs, bread, cheese, fresh fish, pasta, dips and spreads, maple syrup, honey, preserves, teas, spice blends, wine, prepared foods, and a wide variety of freshly baked goods.  A selection of artisan vendors offering soaps, herbal products, hand crafted jewelry, woodworking and more will also be attending. $10 SNAP match and HIP will be offered at the indoor markets.

The Melrose Farmers’ Market runs on their summer markets on Thursday afternoons from June through October at Bowden Park on W. Emerson at the Cedar Park train station in Melrose.
