Thirty teams turn out to support the YMCA youth programs, including summer camp and Y Academy preschool and after-school programs.

[Tuesday, June 27, 2023 – Peabody, MA] The YMCA of Metro North hosted its 38th Annual Fore the Kids Golf Tournament at the Kernwood Country Club in Salem on Monday, June 26. The tournament, which was sponsored by North Shore Bank, brought together 30 teams to support the YMCA youth programs, including summer camp and Y Academy preschool and after-school programs.

“North Shore Bank is proud to continue its support of the YMCA of Metro North and the programs it provides, especially to the kids,” said Kevin Tierney, Chief Executive Officer of North Shore Bank. “The leadership and staff at the Y continue to demonstrate the difference they make in children’s lives and the impact their work has in our communities.”

The event is one of the YMCA of Metro North’s biggest fundraisers of the year and brought in more than $86,000 to support the nonprofit’s youth programs around the region.

“This outing is about much more than golf it’s about the reason you are here, said Kathleen Walsh, President and CEO of the YMCA of Metro North to the 120 golfers on the course. “Right now, there are 800 children in our summer camps and 150 counselors and lifeguards on duty supporting them. More than 40% of those kids receive some kind of financial assistance to attend camp, and that is possible because you are here today.”

The YMCA of Metro North distributes more than $1.6 million in financial assistance to make its memberships, programs, and services accessible to everyone in their region, regardless of their financial circumstances. Their next major fundraising event, the Where in the World annual celebration, will take place on September 21, 2023, at the Torigian Family YMCA.
