Road Race Series
Next up in our series of virtual 5ks is our Stride with Pride charity 5k! Our Ahead of the Curve virtual 5k was a big success and we hope to make this event even better! These YMCA virtual 5ks are for everyone- whether you have been training for a race or run that was canceled or postponed or you just want a fun activity to participate in, the Y is here to help you stay active and healthy during this difficult time.
Here is how it works. You chose a day between Thursday, June 11 and Sunday, June 14, pick a location that will allow you to respect social distancing guidelines, and time that works for your schedule to do the work! After you complete your 3.1 miles, head over to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and share your 5k pictures or workout screenshot with everyone. Use the hashtag #StrideWithPride5k. Be sure to tag @YMCAofMetroNorth! Let’s celebrate what we can do and the health we have.
We have a limited number of race shirts available for purchase. The option of purchasing a shirt will be available during the registration process, and the shirt will be mailed to you. Supplies are limited and it’s first come first serve, so sign up and get yours today!
- What is a Virtual 5k? A Virtual 5k is a run or walk at your own pace, on your own time. You only compete against yourself! You can pick the treadmill, the track or hit the street outside to complete your 5k.
- How do I participate? First, register your desired 5k. Run your 5k (3.1 miles) on a treadmill, in a park, all uphill, or in the dark! After you complete your race- just let us know! Just run your pace, fast or slow. No need to tell us your time (although bragging is always encouraged).
- Can I walk? Our goal is to challenge yourself in whatever way you find best. We want to keep you moving and motivated – walking, jogging, or sprinting outside or on the treadmill!
- Why? When you run with the YMCA you are running for a cause. Your registration fee goes directly toward our community emergency fund to help us respond the emerging needs in our community. Feeding children, providing emergency care for essential workers.
The YMCA of Metro North organizes its Road Race Series to support a variety of charitable activities that benefit our community. Its four unique races and half marathon rally participants from the metro north areas surrounding Lynn, Lynnfield, Melrose, Nahant, Peabody, Revere, Saugus, Stoneham, and Wakefield to promote health and the wellness of the people we serve. With support from our sponsors, donors and registrants, all proceeds contribute to the YMCA of Metro North Annual Campaign that provides more than $1.2 million in financial assistance to people and families in need.
2019 Road Race Series Stats:
