The Melrose YMCA is thrilled to accept a $30,000 charitable donation from the Cambridge Savings Bank Charitable Foundation after receiving the most non-profit nominations from the community of Melrose in an online contest run by Cambridge Savings Bank this summer. Cambridge Savings Bank recently announced the top 8 non-profits in Melrose and surrounding communities from their months-long charitable giving contest, confirming that the Melrose YMCA took the top spot and earned the Y a donation of $30,000. Cambridge Savings Bank received 1,200 nominations throughout the duration of their contest from July-October 2020.
“We would like to thank Cambridge Savings Bank for your donation that will help fund the Y’s financial assistance scholarship program, which ensures that no one is turned away for inability to pay,” explained Melrose YMCA Executive Director Katelyn Papadopoulos.”We appreciate the support of Melrose community members who took the time to nominate us and identified the charitable work the Y does as an integral part of the Melrose the community.”
After acquiring Melrose Bank in June of 2020, Cambridge Savings Bank immediately reached out to their Melrose customer base about the organizations that mattered most to them as a way to engage with the community and give back in a meaningful way. “We are in awe of the overwhelming participation from the Melrose community,” according to Cambridge Savings Bank Vice President and Community Relations Manager Jeri Foutter. “It was clear from the number of nominations we received that this is a community passionate about giving back.”
