The YMCA of Metro North will join YMCAs nationwide for Five Days of Action®, taking place April 13–17, 2026, a weeklong campaign focused on raising awareness and empowering adults to protect children from abuse, with a special focus this year on digital safety.
As kids spend more time online, the Y is sharing simple, practical tools to help families stay informed, recognize warning signs, and create safe environments both in person and in digital spaces.
This effort builds on the YMCA of Metro North’s recent Praesidium Accreditation, earned through an international leader in abuse prevention that sets rigorous standards for policies, training, and screening to help organizations better protect children.
“Keeping kids safe is at the heart of everything we do,” said Jess Murray of the YMCA of Metro North. “Through ongoing training, our staff are prepared to recognize risks and create spaces where kids feel safe and supported. This week is about sharing that with families.”
“This is something every family should be thinking about,” said Cara Green, Executive Director of the Torigian Family YMCA. “We want parents to feel confident navigating today’s digital world and know the Y is here to support them.”
The week leads into Healthy Kids Day® on April 18, a free community event focused on helping kids and families build healthy, safe habits.
