The YMCA of Metro North is thrilled to announce that members of its Tritons Swim Team have qualified for the 2024 National YMCA Long Course Swimming Championship. This prestigious event will take place from Tuesday, July 30th to Saturday, August 3rd at the Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training facility in Ocala, Florida.

The competition presents an excellent opportunity for our swimmers to showcase their skills, hard work, and determination honed throughout the season. Additionally, it highlights the YMCA’s significant impact on developing young people through aquatics program excellence.

We are proud to announce that Brendan Titley, age 14 from Melrose, and Zoey Ceriello, age 14 from Wenham, will be representing our team at the national level.

“We are immensely proud of our swimmers for qualifying for this national event. Their dedication and hard work embodies the spirit of the YMCA and sets a great example for our younger swimmers,” said Tim Savidge, Head Coach of the Metro North Tritons. “This is a testament to their perseverance and toughness as well as the supportive environment we strive to create here at the YMCA.”

Long-course swimming is a challenging discipline that involves swimming in a 50-meter pool, as opposed to the typical 25-yard pool used during the regular season. Training for long course events takes place during the summer and requires an extra level of dedication and endurance.

The Tritons Team is a competitive program offered by the YMCA of Metro North at the Lynn, Melrose, and Peabody facilities. Each year more than 100 swimmers ages 6-18 participate in the Tritons program. The YMCA of Metro North Tritons Team is dedicated to helping athletes improve their skills and achieve their goals while instilling in them the core values of the YMCA.
