Gymnastics Center Programs

From cartwheels to confidence, the YMCA of Metro North Gymnastics Center in Saugus is proud to celebrate youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Our 12,000 square foot, state of the art facility hosts a variety of programs designed to help children and adults thrive at their own pace while building strength, flexibility, self-confidence and coordination.

*Please note that all participants will be screened before entering the building for Gymnastics classes. Only the guardians of children in Tiny Tumblers and Shooting Stars will be allowed into the Gymnastics Center during class.

 

Preschool Gymnastics

 

Tiny Tumblers: This is a semi-structured parent/child class where the children will begin to learn the basics of gymnastics while improving their motor skills (jumping, hopping, running and coordination.) Our staff will assist in spotting techniques and ensure safety to all participants. Active parent participation is required.
Ages 18 months-3 years, 45 Minutes

Rising Stars: This is a structured parent/child class where the children will learn the basics of gymnastics along with listening and following directions. This class is meant to transition children into an independent class. Children must be willing to stay with the group. Active parent participation is required.
Ages 2-3, 45 minutes

Shooting Stars: This is a structured class where children will be introduced to basic gymnastics. They will utilize obstacle courses and circuits that include balance beams, bars, and tumble trak. Children must be able to separate from their parents/guardians. Parents are not allowed into the gym for this class.
Ages 3-4, 45 minutes

Beginner/Intermediate Gymnastics: This is a structured class where children will learn new gymnastics skills. Instructors will focus on proper technique for forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, bridges and much more! Participants will utilize the balance beams, bars, vault, and tumble track. Children must be able to separate from their parents.
Ages 4-5, 60 minutes

Beginner Gymnastics: This is a structured class where children will learn the basics fundamentals of gymnastics. Instructors will focus on proper technique for forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels along with beginner skills on balance beam, bars, and tumble track. Children must be able to separate from their parents. No gymnastics experience is required.
Ages 4-5, 60 minutes

Intermediate Gymnastics: This is a structured class where children will learn new gymnastics skills. Skills will include: bridges, round-offs, and handstand forward-rolls on floor. Pull-overs and casting on bars and being confident on the high balance beams.
Ages 4-5, 60 minutes

Advanced Gymnastics: Advanced Gymnastics is the highest class level before our Team Program. This class is by invitational only and will focus on technique and form while preparing your child for the next level. A leotard must be worn during class.
Ages 4-5, 90 minutes

Boys Gymnastics: This is a structured class strictly for boys who want to learn the basic fundamentals of men’s gymnastics. They will focus on floor, vault, bars, and strength.

Preschool Obstacle: This is a structured class where the children will be mastering obstacles while using the traverse wall, cargo net, ropes and strength building.
Ages 4-5, 45 minutes

Youth Obstacle: This is a structured class where the children will be mastering obstacles while using the traverse wall, cargo net, ropes and strength building.
Ages 6-12, 60 minutes

Beginner Tumble: This is a structured class that allows children to focus on basic tumbling including handstands, cartwheels, round-offs and rolls.
Ages 6-12, 45 minutes

Intermediate Tumble: This is a structured class for children who have tumbling experience and want to focus on skills such as back handsprings, front handsprings, back walkovers, and front walkovers.
Ages 6-12, 45 minutes

Y Fit Kids: This is a semi-structured parent/child class where your child will have the opportunity to get fit while you enjoy a great workout in the Interval Training class.
Ages 2-5, 45 minutes

Adult Fitness

Adult Fitness Circuit: Adults will enjoy a total body workout in a 45 minutes class. Move between stations at timed intervals while building strength and cardiovascular fitness, in this high energy, easy to follow, “adult playground” class.
*Y Fit kids runs simultaneously.

Adult Interval Training: Adults will enjoy a time efficient, total body workout in this 45 minute class.  This interval-style workout incorporates targeted muscle toning exercises and cardiovascular drills.

Open Gym

Open Gym: these open times at the Gymnastics Center give gymnasts a chance to play and have fun in the gym in a supervised but unstructured setting! All open gym times are subject to change. Please check our schedules for the most up to date time.  To sign up simply visit the Welcome Center!
