Super Bowl Zumba Party attracts more than 100 participants, supports YMCA annual campaign!
The Saugus YMCA hosted its annual Super Bowl Zumba Party on February 2, 2020 to support the YMCA of Metro North association’s Annual Campaign. The campaign includes fundraising events across YMCA’s in the Metro North region and provides assistance and access to essential YMCA health and wellness programs to those in need.
“The Zumba Party is one of our favorite fundraisers,” said Jen Conway, Executive Director, Saugus YMCA. “Not only does it bring people from our communities together, but it ensures that no one will be turned away from the YMCA due to an inability to pay.”
The event attracted more than 100 participants and raised $1,200 for YMCA causes. Participants from Melrose, Lynn, Peabody and other surrounding communities danced to routines from ten instructors around the area.
The YMCA of Metro North Annual Campaign will continue in Saugus with YMCA 5k road race, Not a Walk in the Park, which takes place at Breakheart Reservation on April 25, 2020. The Saugus 5k race is the first in the 2020 YMCA of Metro North Road Race Series which attracts more than two thousand runners. All proceeds generate funding for YMCA causes.
The YMCA of Metro North Road Races will also take place at the Lynn YMCA’s Stride Along the Tide at Nahant Life Saving Station on May 30, Torigian Family YMCA in Peabody will host their Beat the Heat 5k on July 9, and the Melrose YMCA will finish the 5k series with the Spooky Sprint on October 31. The Torigian Family YMCA also hosts a half marathon and two-person relay on November 21 to support its LiveSTRONG at the Y cancer survivor programs.
Registrations for the 2020 series completed by April 7, 2020 will receive a Road Race 1/4 pullover and a t-shirt at each of the four 5ks races.
