Camp Counselor in Training Program

At Camp Eastman, Counselors in Training (CITs) are a select group of young individuals (Ages 14-15) who are preparing for future roles as camp counselors. This program provides them with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, gain hands-on experience in managing campers, and learn the responsibilities of being a counselor in a supportive and structured environment.

CITs will go through a training process that includes learning about camp operations, child development, safety protocols, and team-building exercises. They are mentored by a unit leader member and have the chance to shadow experienced counselors to see how they interact with campers and handle various situations.

The CIT program at Camp Eastman is designed to help participants build confidence, foster strong communication skills, and develop problem-solving abilities. CITs are encouraged to take on more responsibilities as they grow in the program, eventually transitioning into full counselor roles in future summers. This program is ideal for young individuals who are interested in camp leadership, enjoy working with children, and want to develop the skills necessary to be successful in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
