Lynn Y Academy Out of School Time

Y Academy Out-of-School Time programs provide engaging after-school learning experiences that combine academic support with physical activities to help your child make new connections and grow. Through enrichment programs and imaginative play, your child will build on classroom learning and reinforce key skills.

We also offer enrichment-based programming, where youth can select clubs to participate in based on their own interests.

We run year-round to provide consistency and reliable care for youth and families.

Regular Hours: Monday–Friday, after school until 5:30 PM

Extended-Day and Full-Day Programs: 7:30 AM–5:30 PM, available on:

• School Vacation Weeks
• Snow Days
• Professional Days
• Summer

Vouchers accepted.

Transportation
We currently provide pick-up from the following schools: Callahan, Drewicz, Ford, Harrington, Ingalls, Sisson, Washington, Aborn, Bricket, Cobbet, Connery, Hood, Lincoln, Sewell and Tracy

KIPP provides a bus stop at the YMCA, depending on bus availability. Families may also arrange their own transportation to the program.

Transportation is provided for after-school care and early releases. Transportation is not provided for full-day care, such as snow days or vacation days.

The Lynn YMCA Youth Center program is a drop-in center for youth members in 1st through 8th grade. Please note, a kindergarten report card is required to enroll.

Drop-in Center Policy: As a drop-in center, your child can leave the program at any time and at times youth may move through the building without direct supervision. Youth must possess a minimum level of independence to be part of the program.

• We offer an affordable, safe and positive environment for youth while school is not in session.
• Your child will be involved in organized activities, clubs, games and craft projects.
• Youth are grouped according to grade level.
• Our staff goes through an intensive orientation period and background checks.
• Staff members are certified in First Aid & CPR.
• It is the parent/guardians responsibility to provide a wholesome snack. Please no soda or fast-food.
• There is the opportunity for recreational swim for all children. Please send a bathing suit, towel, and swim cap.

The Y Academy facility in Lynn includes indoor and outdoor play spaces, and access to the YMCA’s pools, splash pad, gymnasium, and adventure zone. Year-round swim instruction is included in the tuition. Your child’s daily schedule is filled with activities that provide a balanced range of educational and physical activities.

Y Academy teachers are passionate about education. They are certified child care professionals dedicated to nurturing curiosity, inspiring creativity and teaching children how to succeed. Each lesson plan is infused with the Y’s core values of compassion, honesty, respect, and responsibility and accounts for your child’s individual learning needs. Our classrooms are licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care and adhere to EEC’s curriculum guidelines.

At the Y, we know that a well-rounded education includes activities that stimulate a healthy body, mind, and spirit. With your enrollment in Y Academy, your child receives a free Youth membership to the YMCA with access to preferred pricing and priority registration on programs and summer day camps across the YMCA of Metro North branches.

You can opt to extend those privileges and more to your entire family by joining the YMCA as Family members. When you join as a family, you will save the price of your child’s Youth membership from your family membership, a savings of up to 20% off. Membership at the YMCA gives you unlimited access to group exercise classes, gym time, family swim, special events, and so much more.

Everyone belongs at the Y. Financial assistance is available to qualified Y Academy applicants. This is possible thanks to the many generous donors who donate to the Y’s Annual Campaign. Financial assistance is also available through state child care circuit vouchers for those who qualify.
