The YMCA of Metro North received a special citation from Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll in recognition of its successful Summer Nights program at the Demakes Family YMCA in Lynn. Spencer Hastings, along with his dedicated team, accepted the citation on behalf of the Y for their leadership in providing safe, enriching opportunities for local teens.

In partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), the YMCA’s Summer Nights program welcomed more than 400 youth, ages 12–18, throughout July and August. Teens had access to free, late-night programming at the Y’s Teen Center, creating a safe and supportive environment during the summer months.

“Summer Nights is about giving young people a safe and welcoming place to spend their time,” said Spencer Hastings, Operations Director at the Demakes Family YMCA Youth and Teen Center. “Seeing more than 400 teens come through our doors this summer was a powerful reminder of the impact we can make when the community comes together. We’re grateful for the support of the Governor’s Office and our partners at DCR who helped make this possible.”

The YMCA of Metro North remains committed to ensuring all youth have access to positive experiences that support their health, development, and future success.
