Board Expands to 16 Members with Community Leaders from a Range of Backgrounds
The YMCA of Metro North is pleased to announce that it has expanded its Board of Directors to include four new regional community leaders. These leaders join the current 12-member board that sets the strategic direction and policies for the $30 million nonprofit organization.
“Our new board members will bring valuable experience and insight to our governance team, and advance our efforts to make a deeper impact in the communities we serve,” says Andrew Demakes, Chair of the Board of Directors.
The new board members include:
Jessica Glezellis, Vice President, Cash Management Officer, Reading Cooperative Bank
Jose Gonzalez, Vice President Branch Manager, Eastern Bank
Mauro Lance, Chief Financial Officer, Virtual, Inc.
Sean Reid, District Director, Office of Sen. Crighton
“Strong volunteer leadership is essential to assuring our YMCA association continues to be an innovative, inclusive, impactful, intentional, and inspirational organization,” says Kathleen Walsh, President and CEO of the YMCA of Metro North.
In its recent annual report, the YMCA of Metro North association reported that it distributes more than $1.6 million in financial assistance so people in their service area can access the YMCA and its programs. The association has also recently launched a new financial assistance, Y Level, that seeks to remove further barriers that prevent people from applying for financial assistance.
“I am looking forward to working with all of our board members to continue our work to make the YMCA a place where equity and access are infused in everything we do for our community,” says Kathleen Walsh, President and CEO of the YMCA of Metro North.
The YMCA of Metro North has eight YMCA locations in the communities of Lynn, Melrose, Peabody, Saugus, and Stoneham; and also serves the communities of Lynnfield, Nahant, Revere, and Wakefield.
