The YMCA of Metro North proudly announced that it raised more than $100,000 at its 40th Annual “Fore the Kids” Golf Tournament, held on Monday, June 23, at the historic Kernwood Country Club in Salem. The milestone event brought together more than 140 golfers that teed off for a great cause.

All proceeds from the tournament directly support YMCA youth development programs, including summer camp, Y Academy Early Learning and Out-of-School Time programs, and teen leadership initiatives. These programs serve more than 25,000 children annually across Lynn, Melrose, Peabody, Saugus, and surrounding communities.

“This event is more than just a day on the course—it’s a powerful show of support for kids and families in our region,” said Kathleen Walsh, President and CEO of the YMCA of Metro North. “As we play today, we have about 1,200 kids in our summer camps and almost 50 percent of them receive some financial scholarship from the Y to attend. Thanks to events like these, we can make that possible thanks to our supporters.”

Sponsorship was provided by North Shore Bank and a host of generous community partners that sponsored holes, donated auction items, and fielded teams. Their partnership helps ensure that every child has the chance to participate in YMCA programs—regardless of their background or financial circumstances.

“We are proud to support the YMCA of Metro North’s annual golf tournament,” said Michael R. Wheeler, president and chief executive officer of North Shore Bank. “This event brings together local businesses, community leaders, and families in support of healthy inclusive programming for children across our region. Our mission has always been rooted in community, and sponsoring this event aligns perfectly with our commitment to fostering wellness and opportunity for the families we serve.”
